Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Any Advice On How To Go About Buying A New Touareg ?

    I am looking at a MY12 180TDI.

I have never bought a car this expensive before or even one that I've had to order and wait for.

Are there any tips people can pass on re getting the best price or sourcing one quicker than may otherwise be the case ?

    TIA.

I just bought a Polo by looking at what was available through carsales as a new car and then called a dealer to double check. My Polo has a sunroof and and there were two in aus at the time.
So, check all the web based info for what may be available and then ring as many dealers as you want, hopefully getting one that is good to deal with and then start wheeling and dealing etc. I once used a car finder service but was put off by the added cost.
If it's a lease car get the lease company to negotiate, although both my recent lease cars I found myself.
Anyway, good luck and happy Christmas.

Check to see if you are entitled to any discounts because of your employment or organisation membership. The dealerships don't always alert you to these "corporate" discounts
