When testing the battery in the Touareg, make sure that you test the battery at the battery terminals and not at the jump start posts. The battery in our Touareg is at least 4 years old and when tested with the battery tester, it failed and the tester recommended the battery replacement. Even after recharging the battery using the jump start posts located under the bonnet, the battery was still failing the test. Before ordering a new battery, I decided to lift the passenger seat to expose the battery and test it properly at the battery terminals, and the effort was well worth it. The battery is OK and the purchase of the new battery was put on hold, at least for now.

Thanks again Transporter, this enables me to order a battery without getting into mine to measure it. Interesting readings from the battery direct and the jumpstart terminals. I have been recharging the main battery and the aux battery in the rear from this point which works ok of course.Battery doesnt seem to hold its charge for too long and its not my daily drive so I keep it on the CtekTouareg V6TDi,2008 Silver Leaf, Anthracite, Spare wheel carrier,Air suspension,Factory Tow, Sunroof. 2005 T5 Transporter 4Motion black twincab, grey vinyl roof.Best looking Ive seen.Comment

I fitted charging connector to the system (modified for better connection) using 50A Anderson plug, which should allow for a better charging. See the added orange fuse pointed by SX Probe in the right picture.
