I'm in the market for a pre-owned Touareg and am aware that the motor initially had 500nm of torque. Can anyone advise me when the motor was upgraded to 550nm? Obviously I would prefer a motor with the upgrade and would like to be able to distinguish which is which.

dont worry about the OEM upgrade of power... Just get it re-flashed and get 600nm!

Sorry, that should be November 2007. We missed on the stronger more economical motor by two weeks

If you intend to tow or go seriously off road then I would suggest you keep your eye out for one with air suspension. The self levelling characteristic is great for towing heavy trailers - also keeps the lights level. Fully up the air suspension gives up to 300mm clearance. Cheers. Geoff
