Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Door lock AND window regulator malfunction

Hi All. This is a bit weird. We noticed that the rear DS door was not locking (09 Tig).

I investigated - manually locked it by flicking the lock mechanism with the door open. The door would not unlock using the exterior handle - only the interior. I have since managed to get it locked somehow, however it doesn't unlock with the key.

At about the same time the window regulator on the same door started playing up. It winds up around 2/3 of the way then turns around and starts going back down. You can get it to go most of the way up but it leaves about a 6 mm gap.

Any idea on the issue(s). It seems strange that I have 2 faults on the same door.

    They could be related.

You'd need to perhaps have it scanned for fault codes, to indicate where the problem may be, and also inspect the wiring where it passes from the B-pillar to the door itself.

Thanks. I should have said I already checked the cable. Is there a recommended device for code reading and resetting?
