  • Correct Rims for 08/09 Tiguan?

    Hi all.
    I have recently purchased a 5N1042 Tiguan.
I just realised the car has 2 different types of rims.

EDIT: See pics below in post 3

    Which are correct?
It is a bit perplexing as the car is 2 owner (plus a dealer in between) and has no accident damage.

Also, any suggestions on where to get a couple of rims for a reasonable price?

Hi mate, it is a bit perplexing... I don't think either of those styles are standard on the early Tigs... The 1st photo is closer, maybe some non OEM replica? I believe the original ones were called San Francisco? The originals may have suffered some bad rashing or worse & replaced, 2 at a time over the years?

*edit* i just realized that these aren't your rims, but are similar to your rims! There would probably be a part number on the inside, i took a photo of mine when i sold them a couple of years ago, will see if i can find it.

OK, I reckon the left one is stock.

There used to be sets coming up for sale often & still should be? Maybe a wrecker, maybe someone will reply to this thread! With mine, I sold 2 for $200, 1 for $100 & 1 damaged one for $50.

Thanks for the info. I will keep an eye out.
The Tiguan seems to have come with a wide range of different rims...

The left one is called san-francisco, mostly found on pre MY12 cars, the right one is called portland for MY12+ cars. Both have same width and offset measurements.

Keep your eyes out on gumtree, quite a few sellers around.

My '09 Tig. has the one on the left.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
