Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Can depend on legalities in your country We can only go to a certain extra diameter in Aus

Usually the largest size on the TYRE placard is the legal limit

Take a look at this thread - http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...res-36018.html

I have had Pirelli Scorpion ATR 225/70R16 tyres on my Tig for the last 50,000km or so and they work a treat. They are definitely visually bigger tyres and there is sufficient clearance all around - I have been offroad and not had any trouble with the tyre touching anywhere when the suspension bottoms out, even when turning sharply - but I would not try anything larger than this to be honest as it is right on the margin imo.

With this size tyre, it has the added bonus of making the speedo nearly perfectly correct when comparing to the speed shown on my GPS. Before the speedo told me I was going faster than the GPS which was annoying.
