  • 2012 Tiguan - HPA Haldex Controller

Hey guys, I know there are a few threads about on this all approximately from 2009. I'm now seriously considering the HPA Haldex since the 2012 Tiguan isn't graced with the off-road pack. I rang Harding Performance to see if they still install these units and they don't, anyone know who else can install these?

What I'm hoping to find out is how people have gone with these Haldex Controllers in the long run in terms of reliability.

Any updated comments on performance and changes they make the dynamics of the vehicle?

Finally has anyone had any experience using these on somewhat offroad trails?

*I should note that I will be purchasing the Haldex Controller with the wireless touchscreen interface*

    Cheers in advance!

New development: Spoke with the guys at Eurotune on the Gold Coast. They basically said that the HPA Haldex Controller is different to the ones they install. These ones apparently use the stock pump etc whereas the ATR/VW Racing Haldex Controllers apparently are twice the price and include a new pump etc

It's not that hard to install. Any workshop with a hoist could do it. However you will lose oil when you pull the old controller out and need to refill. Probably just a good opportunity to do your Haldex oil change at the same time.

I had the HPA controller in my old Tig and the controller gets calibrated to the pump so you have to keep the pump/controller as a matched set. I'm not sure about other controllers on the market.

It pretty much does what the brochure says - sends more torque to the rear wheels. I used to do a fair bit of driving on dirt roads and it used to stick to them pretty well. Easy to cruise at 100 without white knuckles. Didn't do anything more serious than that. It's still not a proper 4WD with diff lock so I wouldn't take it places you need a proper 4WD.
