Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Rattles and non-OEM noises thread

Hi all, I wanted to start a thread to capture fixes for rattles and non-OEM noises.

In my case when I started modifying the suspension of my car, there were a couple of distinct rattles and creaking sounds from installation of height adjustable suspension and front end links. This lasted a good 6 months, however after a number of visits to the mechanic and trial and error fixes we were able to isolate the the issues to:
    a) right wheel rubbing against a heat shield whilst turning (this required some bending to increase wheel clearance from the shield) and
    b) faulty superpro front end links. I've since replaced with whiteline front end links and it has been perfect.
Hope this provides some additional diagnostic insights to people with similar issues.
