Water pumps on most cars fail eventually. Some sooner than others.

The main reason you'd replace one prior to failure on a belt-driven engine is that you're usually a handful of bolts and 10-15mins of your time away from replacing the pump anyway.

My car is up for the 105k service and just want to know what's the costs and what's involved . I'm happy enough to do it myself if it's only oil and filters or is there more involved in this service

Secondly I have the brake wear indicator on my MFD meaning I'm probably up for pads too , ideas on what pads are good and rough costs would be really helpful before I get ripped off

      Thanks in advance
      Hi mate,

I'm based in Melbourne and got it done at an independent VW specialist ,my car is a golf R 2011.

      - timing belt, water pump $1000 with genuine parts

      - pads and rotors $600 , again genuine

      Definitely go to an independent.

^^^ ended up doing the oil filter service/change myself

took the car to ABS brake and clutch kirrawee and had all 4 brake pads, rotors and new brake fluid done for $840 , when i rang up about price the manager was well aware of the vehicle, knew about the electronic park brake and explained the need to put the cars EcU into servoce mode to release the brakes. very happy with the knowledge and service provided.

good outcome! thankyou for all your help and info guys
