  • Looking to buy a Tiguan !!

    Gday guys
    My names adam

And I'm a tiguanaholic , (feels better to say it out loud)

Looking to buy one in the very near future , but would like some advice /experiences from the experts

    I would like a 2.0l Tsi DSG with 4motion
With leather , hoping to upgrade stage1 soon after

    1) I am currently looking at 2009/10 models which are around my budget and am confused which models come with DSG ? They look to have tbar auto which I am thinking is not DSG ? Is there something visibly I can tell as I do not trust carsales and its descriptions of the options listed. Please help me understand which year model I should be looking at ....

    2) seats , are the leather ones the only ones with the trays on the back ? And also are the leather ones the ones that fold forward to make a long flat storage area from the dash to the hatch ??

Thank you for your help in advance ..

Looks like you've come to the right place. We run an addicts program.

Good choice. I've had a 125TSI and now a 155TSI and both are great cars. If you're looking at going stage 1 both will end up at the same output.

Early models (2008-2010) only came with a conventional auto. I think it was MY11 (July 2010 build and onwards) that the DSG was introduced. It is quite easy to identify because it has "DSG" written on the shift lever

If my memory serves me correctly the 147TSI came with tray tables as did the leather seat option on the 125TSI. I would check with the seller to be 100%. The cloth seats definitely didn't have rear seat tray tables, though it is possible that someone could have reupholstered cloth seats with leather in which case these won't have tray tables. Confused?? Good.

        Hi Adam,

The front passenger seat with factory leather can definitely fold flat. I don't know if the driver seat is able to do the same, though.

        Good luck with the search.

Hope you don't mind me posting from the UK on this one.
I have a 2010 SE model with 4motion, manual gears, no leather though, it come standard with the tables on the back of the seats.
I was also under the impression all passenger seats folded flat.

Cloth trim front seats do not fold flat.

Rear seats do with either cloth or leather.

^^^thanks for that , I've completely ruled out cloth seats as I need folding ! Have driven a couple this week and I'm impressed with the build quality and punch of the engine 👍.

My post got deleted which was super weird.

I had exactly the same criteria as you, on the carsales app you can choose dual clutch as a type of transmission.

Stage 1+2 is definitely worth it transforms the car completely. it becomes quite a fun daily.

Stage 1 is more than enough for a Tig; Stage 2 does not stack up in a cost-benefit analysis.
Consider the DSG software upgrade as an alternative to Stage 2.

I had never driven a stage 1 but I assume it's similar. If you want to go bigger than k03 stage 2 is required.

It's always the law of diminishing returns. Stage 1 gives most gains. Stage 2 is quite a few more $ but not as big a bang for buck.

Stage 3 is where it's at but then you're looking at spending as much on the mods as you are on the car - if you do it like Guy H / APR. When they put a Tiguan in hot tuner a couple of years ago they beat the pants off a lot of performance cars and put down a mighty impressive time around the track.

Nice work. Now just to save up for the stage 3 kit

Reality the base 155TSI is quite capable but stage 1 is icing on the cake.

You can read the 2014 Hot Tuner article about the Tiguan here: MOTOR 2014 Hot Tuner HP Tiguan.pdf
