  • Tiguan Xenon Retrofit Part Numbers

    Hi all,

Planning a xenon retrofit and having trouble making sense of the multitude of part numbers for the headlights themselves.
I've found the following numbers should fit the Tig Mk2, with the latter seeming to be an updated part number or something.

    5N1941752 5N1941753
    5N2941753 5N2941754
    5N1941034 5N1941044

I assume there is a left hand drive and RHD version, but don't know how to differentiate. Anything else to consider?

Recently picked up my 2012 155TSI and just booked in for the APR tune. Loving it.

Yes there will certainly be different part numbers for LHD and RHD versions as the cut-off will be different on the drivers vs. passenger side.

This topic has been discussed a few times so rather than repeat it I'd suggest having a read through of the bi-xenon thread: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...light=bi-xenon

and you will need a lot of other parts to make them work properly. it is not a simple plug and play with just the headlights.

you need uprated cecm (if the stock one does not come with high beam shutter pins), AFS module, wiring, sensors (front and back for awd), adapter from halogen 10 pins to bixenon 12 pins plugs, etc etc... and proper vagcom coding.

overall it would cost $3k back in the day when aud was in a much better position (if buying from overseas).

Yes and the auto-levellers and washer unit to be 100% legal.

The far cheaper (and legal) option is to get some higher output (Phillips/Osram) aftermarket halogen bulbs.

Thanks tigger, yeah I've read through every thread I can find, can't find any mention of what the individual part number mean though. I assume lights that were destined for other RHD countries should be suitable.

Yeah I hear you nat, don't mind the outlay, halogens are **** in the country.

if i were you, i would just use the best H7 bulbs available:

              Car Bulbs › H7 (499) | PowerBulbs

and then fit a led light bar with a licence plate mount. easy to fit and easy to remove.

Driving Light Number Plate Mounting Bracket, Great Whites GWA0001

X Bar - Universal Light Mounting System

these combo will give you much better brightness for country driving (provided no oncoming cars present). i had CATZ spot lights mounted on a nudge bar in the past with 110w H1 bulbs on my Rav4 and they just turned night into day (plus fog lights and high beam 90/110w H4 bulbs all turned on)

Thanks nat, yeah I'll definitely consider it. That number plate bracket is nice and minimal.

Take a look at fitting and looming carefully a couple of high quality Rigid Industry 6 inchLED light bars behind the grill as per photo.
Far far, far and away much better than Xenons which, by the way, are fitted to my other cars (along with light bars).
Brilliant light output which goes almost forever (hyper spots) and is loomed, via relay into main beam.
All up with professional fitting, including made to order brackets, less than a $1000, no coding, adjustable, far better light output = no brainer.
I put a similar set up on my Audi SQ5 as the Xenons are just not as good as folk think on high beam.

                      Thanks Tig.
Came up better than I hoped.
Awesome light output from the SR2s with very defined beam patterns.
You only get flahsed the once!
                      Happy Xmas.

No Tiguan on that Power Bulbs link. Anyone know what they're the same as?

Tig (pre facelift) uses H7 for both low and high beam bulbs.

Facelifted Tig usss H7 for low beam and H15 for high beam / drl i believe.

Again, pardon my ignorance, but would these work?

Doesn't say how many lumens they are, would I expect brighter than 1500? Do they just plug in and mount that box to whatever with self tappers?

using HID bulbs and retrofitting them in headlights specifically designed for halogen bulbs are not only illegal but stupidly annoying and inconsiderate to other drivers (glare to oncoming drivers and glare on their rearview mirrors).

the beam is smeared everywhere and they don't have clear beam cut off like proper HID headlights.

I hate these type of drivers with passion. usually they are fitted to tradie 4x4, Camry, Jazz, etc. they just have no educated knowledge and consideration to other public road users. perhaps they are simply just ignorant. they should just get aftermarket headlights with proper beam cut off at minimum, that way their lights won't blind others.
