RCD 310 Upgrade

Looking at a RNS510 to replace the RCD310 (MY2012 Tig) that was original equipt

Is this a plug and play swap or a much more technical swap?

If OEM is not suitable other alternatives?

The RNS510 (satnav) does require coding I believe.

The other (cheaper) OEM alternative if you don't require sat-nav is an RCD510 which has touch-screen but no sat-nav. Some RCD510 versions come with the plug for reverse camera and some don't so if you want to install an RVC you'll have to make sure you get the version that supports this function.

My RNS510 was plug and play, no coding.

Its physically plug and play, but you will need to install a GPS antenna too, and I believe you'd need to code to let the car know that it now has an RNS-510 installed and to get navigation to show up on the MFD.

Yes it will work. But the multifunction steering wheel. Has to be coded or the mfd won't display

As I currently use my phone for navigation, and who gets lost in Perth anyhow , the RCD510 might be a better choice.

Are there suppliers that are supporters of this site?

I see fleabuy has them @$369, then just need instal + code for MFD and steering wheel.

Check in the parts for sale area as they come up from time to time. This is where I got mine for my 125TSI Tig and replaced the RCD310.

Reverse camera is good but it does take a bit of work to fit/run the cables.

I have a RCD510 for sale... No reverse camera port though... Just haven't put it up for sale as I need to go get the pin from the dealer which I am doing next week. Came out of my MY13 Polo GTI... It's in good condition... No scratches etc.

There are two makes Bosch and Delphi The Bosch would be the best one to get but is usually dearer than the Delphi

This is the part no for the best one a Bosch 5K0 035 190 A

Nope, perhaps the installer removed them??
