Hi Suffolk, I went on that parts store you linked to and was like a kid in a sweetshop - ran up a basket of over a thousand bucks just on things like floor mats, window shades, the door trim, rear seat covers etc. Then I got an email from them saying "Unfortunately we cannot ship outside the United States" - duh!

How did you manage to get them?

I'm new to this VW game, but was wondering as it's all genuine VW parts any reason I can't just order through my local dealer? Is it a price thing why people order this kind of stuff from overseas or are some things just not available in Oz?

    Thanks.

That's weird because I purchased these parts from them. You can also buy them from Genuine Volkswagen Parts & Accessories at Jim Ellis Volkswagen
I have purchased various parts from them including wheel arch extension and sun blinds.
They do still ship to Australia.

I've had that problem with a few online retailers from the US. Seems that dealing with different currencies, returns, shipping costs for the 'international' market is too much hassle for them to bother with!

Also worth bearing in mind the cheapie eBay ones could possibly be made to suit the China Tiguans (which i believe is a bit longer (?) than rest of world Tiguans...)

Hmm, interesting point, but hopefully those ones from Poland would be designed for the European Tigs. Also, I understand the difference in the Chinese Tigs is in the front end and rear bumper mouldings, not the door panels - but I'm willing to be corrected on that one!

                  And yet another option...

Cobra mouldings from this company in the UK - Tiguan Mk1 (08 on) - Cobra Side Mouldings

Found out about them in an old thread here http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...n-40205-2.html , and I hope NZTiguan doesn't mind me reposting his picture...

Got an email back from spoilersndwingking. And they ship to Australia. Had to send them my address. Yes, that is for 4 doors
What is the shipping address we'd be shipping to? We can determine the shipping cost

Good to know Ian. The more options the better...

And in case anyone else is interested in the OEM ones, I checked with my local dealer and they said they can get them for me at RRP of AU$760, and they'd take about a week as there's only one set in Oz and it's in a warehouse over east (I'm in Perth).

Are the OEM ones. Gold plated. Hopefully I'll hear back soon and these are painted to suite your car .

As noted before please be careful of items off ebay as quite a few of these are made for the China market which has a LWB version of the Tiguan. It has longer rear doors - I have found out by past experience from items off ebay coming from Hong Kong....

Ok I stand corrected on that then, as I thought the only differences with the Chinese Tigs was front & rear bumper cosmetics, I didn't realise they did an LWB version. Thanks tigger73 for the heads up.

However, out of the non-OEM door moulding suppliers people have suggested above - Wing King is based in Michigan USA, Pawa is in Poland Europe, Supreme Carpets is in Mainz Germany, and AutoStyling is in the UK, so hopefully their products are made for the 'International' Tiguan.

You should be OK with any of the manufacturers for "rest of the world" models. And yes the Chinese Tiguan is about 40mm longer - basically stretched through the rear doors to give greater legroom for the rear seats. A must have for any Chinese SUV is to have lots of room in the rear seats for executive passengers!

I've been bitten twice buying stuff off ebay and then having it not fit... you would have thought that I'd have learnt the lesson first time

Ha, know what you mean, but then you'd expect a bit of 'buyer beware' on eBay!

But, I was a bit surprised the dealer I talked to about the OEM door mouldings said he couldn't guarantee they'd fit an MY 2016, so before he went to the 'bother' of ordering them for me he wanted payment up front and an understanding that there's no returns if they didn't fit!

I think I'd rather take my chances with eBay, and at least if they don't fit I've wasted a lot less money!
