Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • engine fault code 09571 boost control sensor

    car : 09 tiguan tdi
ive been getting the glow plug light coming on a few times and took it to the local mechanic.

scan came up with 09571 boost control sensor.

they said it was the turbo boost position sensor is faulty and it will be approx 900 bucks to replace include labour.

does that sound correct? could it be something else? am i still able to drive it for a bit?

this car has caused me so much grief...

Sounds a bit expensive for a sensor... Have you tried getting another quote?

Is it a common rail tdi or the older PD tdi engine?

        It should be common rail.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

If its common rail then the boost control sensor is part of the turbo wastegate. They loose vac pressure internally so they dont move. A lot if the cost involved is labour and basic settings adjustment of the wastegate after the install.

the mechanic told me that around half the cost is the sensor itself, the other half is the labour.

he has told me hes done quite a few of these as it seems to be a common issue.

does anyone know if this could possibly a solution? some repair kit?
