  • Darwin Road Trip

Just finished a road trip to Darwin. My 2012 132TSi Tiguan Pacific performed beautifully throughout the entire 6,200 km.
The Tig was fully loaded with camping gear, food clothes etc. with a Yakima SkyBox 16s mounted on Prorack S-Wing roof bars. These produced negligible wind noise even when cruising at the Northern Territory speed limit of 130 kph.
When overtaking 53m long road trains the Tiguan had plenty of power. I was surprised to see 160 - 170 kph showing a few times after overtaking road trains and I wasn't really trying, did not have "the pedal to the metal"!

Good to hear Geoff I have been contemplating this trip myself either in the Tig or the 320d. May try it over the school holidays

Hi Gwarra, how much wind noise did you have from the Sky box.
And are the Prorack rails fixed with bracket, or do they bolt on to the inside of the Tiguan roof rails (mine has screw holes on inside of roof rails)

The Prorack S-Wing bars and Sky Box did not produce any discernible wind noise even when travelling at 130 plus kph. The Prorack through bars clamp to the Tiguan roof rails with Prorack fitting kit K328.
