  • Just taken delivery of a 132tsi R-Line

Just Rooke delivery of a MY15 Pepper grey Tiguan with the R-Line package and a few other extras, after washing I have noticed that the alloy strips under the windows have some sort of staining on them? Is this common. I will try get some photos up.

Hey mate and welcome to the club.

I have just purchased a 2011 147TSI a few weeks ago and noticed the same thing with the chrome trim on my car. To be honest I haven't attempted anything to polish it yet so can't give any advice other than to say I too have noticed it so I don't think its out of the ordinary.

What chemicals did you use to wash your car?

I only ever use Auto Glym wash and wax, just via the pressure washer and the. Chamioed off. Only washed it once since I got it.

If you've just picked it up maybe take it back to the dealer and get them to inspect it?

Yeah take back to dealer for inspection. They might replace, but also might say your chemicals damaged the trim. Just give them a little fight and they should replace the chrome trims (or bend them trying to take them off)

VW are charging $1900 for a towbar on the Tiguan, anyone know if this is the going price or should I be paying a lot less?

I don't know what your using but mine is as shinny and as new as the day I bought it , Ive used Meguiars NXT TECH WAX and ive washed it at least 4 times in 3 months with Kitten wash and Wax and there is no marking on my trim any where ?

Check that it doesn't have a protective plastic film on top of the chrome. My guess is the guys doing pre-delivery/detailing the car left these on.

Always will pay more for genuine mate. You can get it alot cheaper if you go aftermarket like hayman reese etc. All just depends on what you would like to do . NO fitting a aftermarket towbar will NOT effect your vehicle warranty (unless the installer is a brain dead monkey who screws up the install)

The dealer won't fit a towbar to the R-Line (or mine won't anyway) and it's shown as not being an option in the brochure and on the VW website for the R-Line. My 130TDI with R-Line pack is on the 'Glorious Leader' and I should be getting it in early March. I'll be looking to get a hayman reese bar for the bike carrier and occasional trip to the tip. Be keen to know how you get on romaniac if you get yours before then.

Ended up ordering the towbar, picking up the car late next week. You can get the towbar for the r-line now, it's been out in the UK for a while and VW have brought it out for Australia too. My dealer is fitting mine prior to delivery. Not happy with $1900 but at least its genuine VW and my car is rated to tow 2200kg plus my boat is close to 2,000kg so want to be safe.
