Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • HID and HL swich

    hi all,

I have a question about the wiring of the HL switch.

I have a 2009 Tiguan with auto light.

on the witch, it has 4 postions and can be pulled in or out for 3 levels. 1=off,2= auto, 3 parking, 4 low beam and parking. the level are front and rear fog etc.

the problem is, i installed HID, everything is fine. I usually like the switch on auto position. and when i start the car in garage, the HID turn of by itself(not enough voltage or currect, i know it is normal for aftermarker HID).

I am try to know the pin assigment or wire of the switch. what i want to do is:

if i can know which wire of the 10 wires is the low beam. and i know the cigaret power port is off during cranking. i can run a relay so that the low is off during cranking and on again after the engine is start so that the HID will be off during crank.

does anyone know within the 10 wires behine the HL switch, can i pull up or pull down any of the wire to turn of the low beam

or is there a smarter way to get around this aftermarker HID issue.

    thanks
Working...
