Quick question have you been able to enable an option in the lights and vision sub menu called "ambient lighting' when you retrofitted the white MFD instrument panel and footwell lights?

Unfortunately I completely lost the "lights and vision" and also the "comfort" menus in the white MFD, because the mk5 CECM and CCM can't talk to it! They can only talk to the red screens. I have to do all setting in VCDS now But that is OK I never change those menus anyway - it's set and forget really.

If by "Ambient lighting" you mean running the footwell lights while driving - then no I can't do this. Even though my CECM with part number 3C0 937 049 AH has a checkbox in VCDS called "Active footwell lighting while driving" (or similar), it doesn't work - as soon as engine is started footwell lighting is off.

On the steimei website it says to run 'ambient' footwell light while driving you need at least CECM / BCM with part number starting 3C8 (older Tiguan) or 5K0 (facelift Tiguan based on Golf mk6 because 5K is Golf 6 chassis number )

The subsystem in this case is the little slave controller box inside the MFSW under the airbag which connects the buttons and paddles in the steering wheel. In mk6 it runs on LIN2.0 bus and connects to SWCM through slipring/clockspring. If you have MFSW buttons (even mk5 style) then you should also see subsystem in VCDS I believe????



Yes sorry I don't think it's ECU. Everything else electric on my car is original old Mk5 style. Just SWCM and MFSW and CLUSTER (and RNS510 and 9W7 BLUETOOTH retrofit etc...)

I've some old scans that I can check, I would like to exclude some connection error during the installation of the cruise control being made 2 weeks ago by a VW mechanic (I have to say a great one, so I tend to exclude right now this kind of problem), anyway the fact that I don't have a subsytem sound strange...

Tomorrow I'd have time to do some more tests and post my full VCDS scan (I have an old notebook dedicated to VCDS ).

Ok, I've finally got the opportunity to try the Australia coding and unfortunately no luck it doesn't show the CC icon on the MFD.

There are some difference that I don't know what they are:

1. I don't have channel 46 cent. conv., what is?
2. I have channel 1c and you don't, why?
3. I don't have a lot of subsystem that instead you have, in particular channel 15 airbag () and 16 steering wheel...

An aside note: I don't know why I have such phone error, I didn't have them before and the phone works great, I've tried to delete them, but they come back, I'll try to change the coding...

Toki could you post your own VCDS scan? Did you have to change the SWCM to retrofit CC, or did you just swap the stalk to include the CC switches? I have this function working (CC display in white MFD) a base trendline model early 2008 Tiguan TDI in Australia with stock cruise control and all Mk5 electronics, except:

1) Swapped the SWCM from 1K0 953 549 "BG" version to 1K0 953 549 "CH" version @ SW 0111 (for G85 steering angle sensor near slipring, not in steering rack) for mk6 MFSW Golf GTI retrofit.

2) instrument cluster swap from 5N0 920 870 D @ SW 2220 (red MFD VDO with micronas chip) to 5N0 920 871 B @ SW 0206 (white MFD VDO with NEC chip)

Everything else, ie: CECM, CCM, CAN gateway is all low-line ancient mk5 based rubbish.

CONCLUSION

• The function must therefore either be coming from SWCM or Instrument Cluster. I never had to do any coding to set this up, it just worked. I get CCdisplay in white MFD with little CC icon, and no more green indicator light in the speedo.
• All "CH"-version SWCM have SW = 0111 AFAIK according to ross-tech website. I got the CH SWCM from eBay china for AUD$60 posted. Installation required removal of steering wheel IIRC. Link to ross tech: Steering Wheel Control Module Versions - Ross-Tech Wiki
• Also my 'new' retrofit white MFD SW is 0206 which is the lowest version I have seen for this part number, so unlikely to be SW version issue (though may be entire cluster part number)
• Perhaps it is due to coding of cluster? Mine is set to "7 - AUSTRALIA", see coding below. I think some regions behave differently, like US setting means you don't get large speed display in white MFD etc. I get the large speed display (need to have Alt. Speed unticked in settings menu) Note: when you change region, sometimes RNS510 radio loses it's coding.

Since you have the same exact configuration of SWCM and cluster have you tried the same coding that YellowLemon has? Maybe is just that...

It's old thing but I have an update.
Installed new color cluster, 5N0 920 883 E and exactly same thing, only green icon and adaptation channel blocked. I would say this is not cluster related, maybe engine or Steering controller.

The engine is the same for all 3 of us, CBAB, but controllers are not the same AA vs RP.

Hello friends. I have a similar problem.


My car: Golf MK6, y2010, petrol, 5door ver., hatchback.
My control units:
Instruments: 5K6920882 - Dropbox - IMG_20170725_193025.jpg (a real photo from my car)
BCM: 1K0937086C
MF steering wheel module: 1K0953549CF, subsystem: 5K0959542C
Gateway: 1K0907530AD


After the swap about Instrument cluster from 5K0920862H (only PC on display) to 5K6920882 (Premium colored) I have two problems.
Previously it was OK.


When I activate a cruise control, I do not see the set value. Only a green icon on rights clusters. Not on left side botton on display.
I tried loged to VCDS and click 17-Instruments - 07 Coding or 10 Adaptation. The only choice about cruise control option is shown in red types and as inaccessible.
I tried set different country's and coding se on 170B00, 370B00 and 770B00. Nothing happened.


Second... I do not see the Fuel range. Where Can I set this option as visibled? I'm sure this will be see in "MFD data". I mean this one: Dropbox - mu8atasa.jpg
It was on the previous Instrument cluster. Now I don't know where to show it via VCDS.


I own The new Instruments two days. Yesterday It happened to I activated the high beam. The lights did not shine, the blue icon on left side of Instruments wasn't visible. The light horn worked. After about 5 unlucky attempts and approx. 2 minutes, I tried it again. And then everything was all right. Did this ever happen to anyone?
