The answer is yes if you dislike the stock shifting pattern of your DSG. If it doesn't bother you then I wouldn't worry about it.
There is only one place in Adelaide that I'm aware of that can reprogram the DSG and that is German Auto. Though they don't (or didn't) have the tool permanently so you have to book in and wait until they get enough to do in a batch.
A few other tuners have tools to do some of the other DSG units (DQ250 in GTI and R being most common) but the DSG tune that the APR dealers supply (not an APR product) is the only one I'm aware of that will do DQ500 in the Tig.
I believe that may be changing very shortly as Viezu may have a product but 12 months ago this was certainly the case.
