Hi all
Just finished my latest modification. Took up Bold Sport's special price reduction on the VW Siren of USD99 plus postage advert since it also came with the wiring loom that connects the siren to the #09 BCM module, fuse box and to the chassis.
In addition to the above you will also need
1.A metal L shape bracket, an M8 washer and nut (I got all 3 from Bunnings for about $5)
2.An additional VW repair wire part number 000979243E ($33) of which you will only use half of it
3.A 5 Amp mini fuse and some OEM cloth cabling tape. Fortunately for me, I had left over from previous RVC installations.
4.VCDS cable to recode the BCM module to recognise the siren and remove all the errors resulting from the disconnection of the two 52 pin plugs from the BCM during installation
ElsaWin shows the Siren to be mounted in the plenum chamber on the RHS directly below the wiper arm that links the wiper motor to the passenger side wiper. I chose to mount it on the LHS which saved me taking the wiper arms off which according to ElsaWin you require a special tool to take off the wiper arms which I do not have. I also have a RHD car which I don't think VW thought about when they originally designed the location which was probably for a LHD car.
I have compiled a number of photographs and diagrams from ElsaWin of the mounting and feeding of the 2 wires into the interior of the car. (The earth wire I earthed to the bracket that secures air duct to the interior ventilation fan of the car.)
The 2 wires are fed through a small hole in the back of the chamber and can be accessed from inside of the car by removing the passenger glove box and then fed across to the driver's side.
Remove the lower driver's side knee cover and undo the 2 Torx screws and wedge the fuse box down to give you access to the back of it. Using a small screwdriver unclip the back bracket off to allow you access to clip the red/white wire into Fuse 22, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS until you have joined the yellow VW repair wire to it first as once you clip it in it won't come out in a hurry!
Directly above the fuse box is the #9 BCM module that has 3 Large 52 pin plugs going into it. Disconnect the centre one and the outside one closest to the door by unclipping the hinge at the front and lever it down and the plug will automatically come out.
Remove the plug casing by unclipping and sliding it out and separate the two rows of connectors. Trace PIN 36 location and insert the white/violet wire into the vacant slot. If you make a mistake it is relatively easy to take out using a pin to unlock the clip.
Tape up the Wire with the rest of the wires and re assemble the plug and reconnect to the BCM module.
Cut the VW repair wire in half and solder/join the cut wire end to the red/white wire about 15cm's from the lug that goes into the fuse box.
Disconnect the outside 52 pin plug and disassemble the plug as done to the centre plug, this time plug the yellow wire into PIN 1 location. Reassemble plug and plug it care fully back into the BCM module taking note that the locking levers are securely clipped in place.
On the side of the fuse box there is a pink safety lock clip that prevents wires from accidentally being pulled out of the fuse box. Pull this completely out BEFOREHAND and then insert the red white wire into the vacant fuse 22 slot. If you don't the lug will not go in properly. You will feel it lock in and believe me it is extremely difficult to remove it with out the correct VAS unlocking tool. Don't forget to replace the pink safety clip/lock back into the side of the fuse box once this is done. Secure the fuse box back in place with the two torx screws, insert the 5 amp mini fuse and then clip the knee vent cover back on.
Finally get the VCDS cable out do an autoscan and you will see a load of errors which you need to clear first in both door modules, the BCM module and the CANbus module and maybe a few others depending on what other extras you have fitted.
Go into the BCM module byte 5 and tick bit 1 (Locking Confirmation via Horn Active)
then byte 6 un tick bit 3 ( Anti-Theft System “Simple Horn” installed)
and tick bit 5 (Anti-Theft System installed/active)
and save the new settings.
You will now see the ATA confirm function in the convenience menu in your MFD which allows you to turn the chirp sound on and off when you lock the car.
And that should be it!
I have prepared a word document that includes photos, diagrams including a circuit diagram for the above from ElsaWin if anyone want's a copy PM me their email address.
Please note this retrofit is for Tiguans assembled after May 2011. Previous models I think have have a different fuse and module pin locations. I can get those details if requested.
