  • Nudge Bar for Tiguan 2011

Hi - I am looking at nudge bar options for my 2011 Tiguan, I am in Brisbane.

I see ECB make one that others have posted about a while ago, but has anyone tried the 'Everest' brand nudge bars available on ebay or their website?

    VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN 5N (2009 - present) - NUDGE BAR

approx. $350 delivered for a 3" polished stainless steel... seems fairly simple to install and doesn't look too bad.

I'm not keen on spending $800 or so on an ECB product...

    Any comments appreciated.

My only comment is if you have forward park sensors, mounting any nudge bar can possibly interfere with the sensor operation.

If you don't have sensors, go your hardest and report back your findings

    2017 Tiguan Sportline - Tigger73's 162TSI Sportline

    2016 Scirocco R, stage 1, 205kwaw (sold) - Tigger73's Scirocco R Build
    2013 Tiguan 155TSI, stage 1, 144kwaw (sold) - Tigger73's 155TSI Build
    2011 Tiguan 125TSI, Stage 2+, 152kwaw (sold)
    - Tigger73's 125TSI Build

I've purchased and fitted the ECB bar.

It seems that it covers the front of the Tig more adequately than the model you have listed.

We have hit a small roo with the nudge bar fitted and it more than paid for it fitting price.

I'm very satisfied with the ECB bar.

      Cheers,

      Des

Thanks Des, the ecb certainly covers higher on the grille and looks good too. My only concern on the Everest bar is that being a bit wider it might obstruct the towing point. I might give it a go anyway and report my findings in the coming weeks.. Looking at putting on some IPF 800xs lights too.

Lightforce 170s? Are they HIDs or Halogens? Did you fit them yourself?

What did you do about your front park assist sensors?

The sensors were not affected by the installation.

They were fitted as a "freebee" from the installer. Not sure of the specs.

Did you consider what effect the bar might have on the operation of the air bags in an accident, before deciding to fit a bar?

                        Hi Max

Yep I did consider this. That's part of the reason I chose ECB. They are ADR compliant and are air bag compatible and also have spot light mounting tabs.
Overall I'm very pleased, especially since I do a lot of rural and out back driving.
                        Cheers

                          Thanks Des,
I followed up with ECB but unfortunately they don't produce a bar for 2012 on in their normal production runs. Hoping that they might be able to modify an earlier bar to fit. Will contact their new products guy & see how we go.

                            yarrwarri,

I contacted ECB last year about this exact same thing as I have the facelift model ie 2012
The response I got was at that stage they had no plans for the 2012
I even offered them the use of my car for some development but they weren't overly interested

I don't think that much has overly changed in the front end other than the facelift grill etc I think that the main problem for the 2012 onwards most of the cars now have park assist.
I for one have park assist and the sensors sit right where the bar comes up the front.

Unless they have other reason for which they weren't interested.

                            Maybe things have now changed
