Not for laugh, it's for real. There are some people that already experienced the problem, and in much deeper sense than what the description of the fault is.
We have the letter as well, for our 2010 TDI Tig. The 2012 and 2013 should be all good.
Yes I got the letter too - though I think my car may have already had the "fix" but will book it in anyway.
If people aren't registered with VW (second owners) then contact your local VW dealer with your VIN to see if your car is one of those that is effected. I believe this will apply to most of the 2008-2011 cars.
I actually didn't see the blown fuse, just an electrical arcing/burning on the spade of the fuse16 (30A), it is for an onboard supply control unit (the green fuse far left next to the blue one).
I believe the issue is with the fuse holder and not the fuse as such.
That's right.
The burning on the bottom spade, the fuse still electrically OK (missed by an autoelectrician ) Removing and reinserting the fuse restored the power to the modules and the car was driveable for 10 minutes.
So it is the fuse box outside right? I dont want the fuse box inside to blow up
Got a letter too last week and have booked a time on 31 dec 13.

Yep fuse box in the engine bay. Apparently there's a dodgy board and this can overheat. Obviously the 30A fuse can have a fair bit of power running through it and the tracks/board doesn't cope (or is marginal).
Anyway best to get it replaced before it melts and causes a whole lot of faults in the MFD - see this thread for people that have already had the issue/fuse holder replaced: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ges-89048.html
Yep, got the letter the other day. But I'm pretty sure ours has already been done as we had the fuse go about a week out of warranty a few years ago. Still booked the car in to get it checked for sure and also get the recall sticker put on it.
Got the letter also but most interested in the "weird hesitation" you mentioned. Mine has recently started hesitating between 2500-3000rpm on light to moderation throttle. Does this sound similar??
Yes that does sound familiar Light acceleration has a jerk / hesitation in first and second and not as noticeable in third. Engine also shakes at idle, enough to notice inside the car.
I had my spark plugs changed at my VW specialist at 60k even they said it was supposed to be at 90k. Either way it didnt fix the issue so my Tiguan is at VW today getting looked at again.
Mate if you could let me know what they say I'd really appreciate it. It's really annoying and the first prob I have had with the car since I bought it.
