  • Help diagnosing misfire / stumble - stock 125TSI

I was wondering if anybody can assist advice on trouble shooting an issue I have with a 2008 manual 125TSI Tiguan with 85,000kms.

The car developed a misfire or more specifically a stumble from 2000 RPM to 3000RPM only on light throttle. However the car idles perfectly and pulls like a train with no misfire at WOT. The issue only occurs at light throttle only. The car is 100% stock.

The car showed the following codes:

I cleared the codes and changed all 4 spark plugs and coils and it improved the issue significantly - however it has not fixed it totally.

The stumble is starting to come back after 100kms driving. The engine light has come on for a second time with errors P0301 & P0302 (misfire cylinder 1 & 2).

Does anybody have advice on what to try next? or where to get quality trouble shooting information?

    Thanks in advance
    Nick

Could be an Intake valves carbon build up issue..
Intake valve carbon cleaning for the 2.0TFSI and 4.2FSI.

Update on the issue. I cleaned the maf sensor with carby cleaner and it has significantly improved the stumble/misfire.

I posted a similar thread, 2500-3000 RPM stumble/hesitation on light throttle. I cleaned the MAF, seemed a little better, but I think I may change the plugs as well.

Also - just had my 60k service done, but spark plugs were not changed. I see mixed reports on whether these should be done at the 60k?

I would have thought that plugs would be good for 100k on a stock engine.
