Question about Parking sensors, is dealer trying to rip me off?

Hi everyone i'm new here, just purchased a 155TSI and it's great. Have a question on the parking sensors, need someones advice knowledgeable in the area.

Purchased the 155 from a VW dealer last week. Part of the deal was that they throw in 'front sensors' I assumed there was OEM sensors they could fit and it would display on the screen like the rear sensors do.

When car was delivered it was my shock to see they had fitted a $100 setup from somewhere like super cheap auto with poxy LED's which sits above the re-view mirror. I complained and the dealer said it was a mis communication to his staff and agreed to install the Factory sensors.

I just got a call from what must be the service manager or spare parts manager. They told me they can't do OEM front sensors that's not an option and that the salesman made a mistake. The next step up is the Park Assist and it can't be installed as an upgrade to that car.

Just wanting to know if what they are saying is correct and how much is this Park assist option? Is it over $999? They are offering to refund this if we want or fit a better aftermarket front sensor.

to fit the cheap parking sensors would only take them 1 hour excluding painting bit.

to fit OEM sensors that are wired to the display and other stuffs, this requires a lot more efforts and extra parts and coding + a new bumper with factory drilled holes then respraying to colour match. not to mention if they have not done it before or have not had any factory training to do so.. it could end up in a full day of tickering

Take the refund nat225 is quite correct. I would rather put the money towards a Stage 1 APR upgrade

Assuming you want to keep the car (and don't want to play hard-ball with them) then I'd be taking their offer. Otherwise you may be up for waiting 6 months for a factory order of a 155 with all the options that you had on your contract.

I'm guessing the disappointment of not getting front sensors would be nothing compared to the hassle of being without your car for 6 months.

And as others have said you can spend the $1,000 on other upgrades for your car

...or you could always ask them to give you a loan car (equivalent to what you paid for), while you wait and order the one with the specs you wanted.
