  • Tiguan APR STG1 - Very happy

So I got my APR Stage 1 today.

I'm super impressed with the performance increase. The Tig sure does lift quite a bit when you get on it. Hopefully the H&R sport springs will help a little with that but I'm thinking I might need a complete solution.

I promised myself that I would stop at that but I've decided to order the Carbonio intake as well.

The stage 1 makes power delivery much smoother, it does however make the bad shifting habits of the DQ500 DSG more obvious. I think the only thing that would improve that is a DSG tune/flash as well.

Who else has a STG1 or STG1+ Tig and have you done anything about the Trans or Suspension?

I do have to say that the APR Dealer in WA (Quattro) was fantastic. Great service and very friendly. They are certainly a busy bunch so do you have to be a little patient but they always come through with the goods.

Hahaha once you start you can't stop I'm sorry.

Yes I've had the DSG reflashed with the HP DSG software and it does make things a lot better for "normal" driving.

Also installed anti-lift kit which helped quite a bit with the nose diving/lifting during acceleration/braking. Also springs helped with this too though I put the ALK on first and it made a big change. Plus front/rear sway bars (recommend rear / front is optional) to reduce body roll when cornering.

Just did a run with the Autopolar. Timed the 0-100 with the Chronometer function and got 5.398 (17.5c) outside. I'm pretty happy with that

I'm sure if I use proper timing equip I'll probably get more of a 5.6-5.8 but I'm still ecstatic.

        Gotta be happy with that

I'm assuming that time is with LC.

Congrats mate !! Yep once you start it is hard to stop Considering Tig is built for towing up to 2 Tons of weight it is very good platform for performance mods. Transmission / suspension/ chassis should be able to handle extra stress form power/torque increase. Even upcoming RS Q3 comes with same DQ500 transmission in Tigs with 420 Nm torque and 311 hp.

One piece of advice, try to go slow step by step doing performance mods giving enough time for car and you to settle with new found power; in that way you can enjoy every step of power increase Carbonio intake is good complement mod for APR stage 1 and if my memory serves me correct APR mentioned it should give more power than stage 2 + downpipe (without intake).

After getting APR tune I too noticed DSG rough shifts and after some time (few weeks later) DSG seams to be settled with the new power increase.

              Thanks Ramee,

I've spend the weekend in the city and the stop and go traffic has certainly made its clunkyness show. Hopefully it will relearn soon.

It's almost like the clutches aren't biting hard and quick enough or the shift points just need to remap so that it doesn't try shifting so early. I'm guessing it's torque sensitive and the increased torque is making it think to shift earlier.

I was thinking of doing a DSG Reset (Basic Settings in VCDS) but I can't find a procedure for the DQ500. Does anyone have one hidden away? Ross-Tech don't have one yet because there are no DQ500's in North America that I know of.
