Recently had the TSI wastegate rattle fixed, but then received a CEL. Thinking it was the incompetence of the local VW dealer who fixed the car I went . and saw the local APR dealer to check the error code. The error said something like intake manifold flap stuck. The diagnosis was a faulty intake manifold unit, which seems fair given the error code. What has me worried is that I switched the car back into stock mode before the error was cleared and it runs fine, but as soon as the car is put back into the stage 1 tune, it throws a CEL. The car has been running the APR stage 1 tune since day 1, so strange it's only just started after the wastegate silencer fix. I can't see how the wastegate and intake manifold would be connected by the tune, so I suspect more coincidence but was wondering if anyone had thoughts or a similar experience? Otherwise it looks like I'll be up for a new intake manifold @ $500 to run stage 1 without a CEL

Faulty intake manifold with APR stage 1 tune?

Intake manifold flap you mean throttle body ? May be you need to do a throttle body alignment. I think APR tune comes with a TB calibration procedure but never tested by myself. Also easy to do with a VCDS cable2013 Tiguan 155kW DSG | Leather | Bi Xenon's | Park Assist 2.0 | Panoramic Sunroof | RCD 510 | RVC | MDI

Supposedly an Intake manifold runner flap malfunction or the sensor at the end. As these parts are all built into the intake manifold is why a whole replacement was suggested. APR tune has been running for 98,000kms fine before, so unless when they replaced the wastegate clip they touched throttle body components to change anything, I don't think that's it.

Well I don't think you can blame your APR tune if you've had it 98,000km. Perhaps the dealer has done some sort of update at the same time as putting on the clip.

No blame for the APR tune, but is interesting this CEL only now happens when in the tune mode. Wondering if somehow the wastegate clip would effect the amount of air into the turbo, which in turn would impact the air the intake sensor might get?Originally posted by tigger73 View PostWell I don't think you can blame your APR tune if you've had it 98,000km. So things have gotten worse. Car back into standard tune, engine light still on, tonight car starts to shudder and check engine light is now flashing....suspect driving it is now out of the question. God dam! All this after the wastegate clip was installed. I'm 90% confident they screwed something up.
