  • Tiguan DSG 7 speed and Haldex servicing

Hi all - MY11 DSG 7 speed tiggy - trying to find some info into the above but it seems to be in limited supply (DSG 7 speed that is) so rang a couple of VW shops up and one stated it cannot be serviced and another couple of shops said it can but have never done one and have only just realised it actually can be serviced. I am reluctant of course to go any where near any dealers due to many of their previous stuffs ups with my tiggy and their total lack of product knowledge so would welcome any tips etc into the DSG oil change as I have access to all VW parts + also have the VCDS software. The Haldex unit I presume is the J492 as per previous tigs (I could be wrong here tho) which requires only the oil change as the filter is not serviceable - also please correct me if I am wrong.

Have searched the forum on the DSG 7 speed but couldn't really find what I was looking for so any help would be appreciated - thanks in advance

Off the top of my head, it's the same transmission as the Transporter, which is definately servicable. Same goes for the filter.

Haldex is the same Gen IV unit as previous Tiguan, whereby the filter isn't servicable.. Only difference is the service interval on 2010> models. 3 years, instead of 60,000kms.

Correct as above^^^^....The 7 speed in a tiguan, and T5 are different to golf, polo and passat and get a oil change at 60K but is said the filter is not a service item...but as above I would do it anyway.....Heldex 3 years no filter on the newer ones...VDUB...

Hi all - what is the preferred workshop manual to use which will cover everything on the MY11 Tiguan, from what I have read the Elsawin appears to be the go and if this is the case where would you recommend I download this from so I know its the real deal - tia

You can obtain a subscription to it through Erwin online.

Or you can acquire a copy off Ebay. Get the latest version, which is 4.1, or 4.2, and make sure you've got at least 40Gb of HDD space.

thanks for this...grabbed 4.1 from ebay + appears they are moving away from DVD's and across to the online model only - well from what I understand anyway

Australian dealerships at least, have been using the online-only version since around 2009.

They've been talking about knocking the DVD versions on the head for a few years now, but keep churning out updaes for it.
