Great thread.
Sorry for mining an old post about the upgrade of RCD510

I'm starting (again) down the audio upgrade path and had almost settled on an RNS510.
I have factory fit RCD310, MDI and BT and of course white MFD with steering wheel controls.
I only really listen to iPhone 5 through MDI and AM radio.
But I don't really need the sat nav so actually the RCD 510 would do, except I'd understood it couldn't be coded to give line outs.
You reckon it can and have done it?
Can you code just the fronts to be line out, leaving the rears as speaker level?
I guess there's no discrete sub out, so will have to derive that feed from L + R output ( which my amp will do and it has a remote sub volume control)?

What level/degree of DSP/EQ control do you get with RCD and is this different from RNS?

I also can't work out how you connect the RCAs to the head unit. You link to an eBay listing which is long gone and searching doesn't seem to throw up many clues except maybe a multi-pin plug with bare wires in case the factory harness has been destroyed; is that what you used?

Yes RCD510 do accept same VCDS commands as RNS510. So you can enable line out signals using VCDS. But I am not sure it is possible to enable only front leaving rear at speaker level.

To get audio out from RCD510 and put back amplified signals to speakers you need to have that interface cable I posted in the link. What it basically does is separate audio wires going to speakers from RCD510 in the middle and give you two connectors as audio out and speaker in.
audio out connector goes to your amp and amplified signals send back to other connector for speakers. These two connectors are 8 pin connectors include two pins for each audio channel (four channels , 2 front and 2 rear) . If you want RCA connectors you can solder 8 RCA sockets to replace these two big 8 pin connectors.

There is not much control in sound quality or eq functions with RCD/RNS 510 only Bass , Treble, and Mid control. I am using Audison Bit ten equalizer wich is cable of 32 band dsp equalization for each channel with other advance sound manipulations like time delays and phase control etc. I recommend it if you are in to sound quality seriously.

Yeah there is no base out from RCD510. Your amp will have to derive this from other signals or a DSP like bit ten can do this for you.

Unfortunately no tigger but I hope to update the thread little bit with some info of suspension install. Also I got HP / Super Pro lower control arms and cat back exhaust from stiffy86. Thay looks quite good, but have to wait until I get some free time.

Did stiffy sell his Tig, haven't seen him around for a while... Wonder what happened to those awesome looking rims he was having made?

I think his car is still for sale, he put it back to stock. Stiffy got a golf R with APR stage 2 with all bells and whistles. Those awesome looking wheels are on it too.

Today I just got the catback installed. It is too loud for my taste. Especially when mated with my 3 inch down pipe. Need to do something about it.

Ramee does it have a resonator fitted?? I found my unresonated exhaust way too loud... well unless you're going WOT through a tunnel then it's great

Seriously though for day to day driving you need something you're happy to live with. Post up some pics and make sure you take a clip so others can hear it before you go making changes.

Exhausts are a personal thing too. Some peoples quiet is other peoples too noisy

Yeah , It has a resonator and a hot dog muffler. But I think there is a bit of drone happening too. I may change the muffler soon probably with a quad tip unit. Sad I waited my time changing exhaust tips

Will post some pics and clips as well when time permits, sadly back to work tomorrow.

I am taking a break from modding tigger, It is now very cold in Melbourne and very hard to work on car under this weather And I am bit exhausted with all these modding , researching and online shopping etc etc so thought of having bit of leave.

I just gave up the idea of installing wide wheel arch extensions after careful consideration, instead I will install narrow wheel arch extensions for the car when summer hits. Also importing a R line rear bumper is on the plans too. These will keep my OEM+ theme and also I may not have to worry when selling the car.

I am still waiting for new K04 V3.1 tune from APR and getting that would be my next priority. Next is getting a boost gauge installed.

Also I am getting closer to the end of my build (end of this year or early next year) and I am afraid I feel that Tig is not going to fast enough for me any more. So either I have to go for GTX turbo or keep the Tig for three/four years and buy something else. RSQ3 is not on the cards for now but more likely a new Golf R or Scirocco R. If I did not have enough money by then K04 conversion of a Audi Q3 is also a backup plan.
