Goodluck with the install. It was great to meet another forum member. Glad the intercooler went to a good home.

If it's a massive job I may have second thoughts and wait until I can afford the "real deal"

HPA Motorsport do a K04 kit for the EA888 which is reasonably priced. Though you'll still have to get a tune locally.

On positive side for APR they are almost finishing a version 3 tune for K04 which promises more power ~380hp and torque.2013 Tiguan 155kW DSG | Leather | Bi Xenon's | Park Assist 2.0 | Panoramic Sunroof | RCD 510 | RVC | MDI

Tiguan S3 Intercooler Install
Today I was able to install S3 intercooler for Tig. I did it solo with in about 6 hours time and without too much struggling. Tig has bit more ground clearance than GTI s so I did not have to jack it up during the swap. I got two hoses with the S3 intercooler but one of them (pre intercooler/ turbo side) one is too short for Tig. So I used stock hose but had to cut about half an inch to clear the swelled area of the hose and to get the perfect length. For the other side of the intercooler, I could use the S3 hose easily. I used APR and other internet resources as a reference and even though they are for GTIs, still closely relevant for Tigs.
Some pictures of the install.
Front bumper removed.
Water is leaking because I forgot clamp the headlight washer line!
Bumper bar, headlights, and intercooler supporting bracket removed.
No need to remove the hood unlocking wire in Tigs. Just leave the supporting bracket away with wire attached.
Intercooler is in between two radiators (AC and Engine coolant). Just unbolted both of them from the intercooler.
S3 vs stock intercooler. Not much difference in size S3 may be 4mm thicker than stock and has aluminium end tanks.
S3 is about to go in. Stock one is going to garbage
S3 intercooler in the car!
Did a test drive, car feels bit livelier. But today is not a very hot day so benefits will be more clear in a 30+ degree dayLast edited by Ramee; 15-02-2014, 08:24 PM.2013 Tiguan 155kW DSG | Leather | Bi Xenon's | Park Assist 2.0 | Panoramic Sunroof | RCD 510 | RVC | MDI

So did you get your sway bar fitted too? or has that been pushed out to next weekend?

I could not install my sway bay yet because I was very tired after end of this exercise. Good thing is I have something to do again to the car next weekend too

RSB will take you 30m tops.
If you park where a flat is falling away to a slope you don't even have to jack the car up just slide under from the back.
You'll need some triple-sqauare bits. I can't remeber the size - sorry.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic
I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums

Some data logs of intake air temperatures with stock and S3 intercoolers installed. They logged in nearly similar times of different days with ambient temperatures nearly same on same path from my work to home. Logs show a very clear decrease in intake temps with S3 intercooler even though it is not an ideal intercooler, still heat soak little bit at traffic lights.

Tig's Rear Sway Bar Install
Today I changed the Tig's rear sway bar with a Whiteline 24mm Heavy duty sway bar. Whiteline sway bar is a solid bar compared to stock hollow one so considerably heavier. Whiteline one comes with two stiffness settings and I first installed it in low stiffness position. During the test drive I could feel considerable improvement in handling even with mild setting and body roll is fairly under control, but you can feel it is still there. There are some favourite spots where I can really see the handling improvement of the Tig such as long curvy downhill road sections and I can safely say there is a significant improvement in body roll.
Some pictures of the install.
Stock vs Whiteline sway bar
New sway bar installed. I had to use M10 and M6 XZN bits for the operation.
I did not have XZN bits in my tool box so had to buy some. Supercheap and local Bunnings did not have them, Total Tools have them as a set with other mixture of bits.
