Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Black or Red calipers - help me decide

Still undecided on what colour to paint my calipers. Having just lowered my Tig I was thinknig of going with black with white decals but after photoshopping this image, I can't help but think that red will stand out much more.

    What do you guys think?

If you've got black wheels then red all the way!

Wheels are gunmetal, almost silver grey in direct sunlight.

In my opinion unless you're going to install a BBK I'd suggest not drawing too much attention to the stock calipers. So if go didn't go black, I'd suggest blue:

not sure yellow would suit a white car:

...and then there's orange, bright green and light blue... though get ready to repaint them in 3 months

I'm thinking of plasti-dipping my "old" RS4 reps orange just for giggles. Pity you can't plasti-dip brake calipers
