  • Tig's new wheels and wheel arch extensions

Just got some time to install the Wheel Arch Extensions on my Tiguan.

First side is a PITA, the instructions are terrible. While I was doing that I also tried some new wheels as well.

Wheels are original Audi 19x9 +33 hollow spoke wheels.

Yeah, the emergency jack is a scary contraption. Unfortunately for me, we're currently building a house so all of my good tools/gear has been packed away.

Looking good. So you finally managed to get your wheels sorted out I see

What are you doing about tyres? What size are you going now that you have your wider guards? Something fatter... X5ish?

Keen to see it all fitted up. Are you going to lower it too or keep stock springs in?

I'm thinking mine may be in the need for some lowering springs... just waiting until the new wheels get fitted.

Yeah, finally got the wheels. Great price too, $1200.

Tyres are gonna be the standard size 255/40/19 (same as on the tyre card on the car). Currently just waiting on hub rings to arrive (from the US $24 delivered).

As for the brand of tyres, thats still being worked on. Kumho KU22 have some good reviews and can get them at $230 per corner fitted.
Springs are not happening, currently negotiating for some KW coilovers.

                  Hey mate,

these ones are just the normal part number 5N0 071 681 041, few people told me that they wouldn't fit but I had no issues fitting them to the car.
Your car, being a 2012/13 model, I think you will need the "C" part number, purely because of the location of the Park Assist Sensor on the bumpers.

                        Thanks mate,

how in the world do you post the pics like that?

Need to ask a quick question, do all the steering wheels come ready to be installed (wheel and airbag complete), do I need some sort of harness???

In flickr select: "Grab the HTML/BBCode" and copy the whole lot. Then in your forum post, select the image icon and paste the copied text in there. Remove everything other than the actual html link to the .jpg file and include this within the IMG and end IMG container.

You can have links off to the photos like you've done but it means you have to click through to them.

Some of the other photo hosting sites work a little nicer as they'll give you the "http://www.whatever.web.address.com/filename.jpg" straight off to copy/paste but flickr is a little more work (at least I haven't found an easier way yet).

Not all steering wheels come with airbags. It's often cheaper to buy with the airbag than buying this separately as then you'll be up for 2 lots of freight.

I'd have to go back and look at it again but I think I remember that there was an option to buy a cable along with the airbag. I'd suggest getting it mainly if you're going to sell your old wheel, you can sell it as a complete kit and not minus the cable.

There's people with older Golfs that will look to put the newer steering wheel in and they'll need all the bits.

Thanks mate, what a pain they are to fit. The first one is a real b*tch.

After that one its all easy.
