Most that have it have different starter motors to cope and mine has an AGM battery that accepts regenerative energy when braking and costs $800 according to my friendly Battery World guy.

I would be more concerned about suddenly stopping a hot diesel with no coolant circulating.

As far as I can ascertain it doesnt circulate and how could it unless it has an electric water pump

      Don't they?

My EA888 has an electric water pump to circulate coolant when the engine is turned off.

You sure the Passat is different? The operation of the pump after engine off is pretty discrete. What engine do you have?

Why would you be concerned about the lack of electric water pump? If the cooling system is operating properly there is no need for concern as it wont be hot enough to do damage in the first place. Heat soak wont be enough to destroy an engine either

Cars have not had this function for years and years yet they still manage to work without an issue

                Water cooled turbo-chargers.

Also, why have Euro cars had their fans come on after shut-down for years? (my 98 Golf had this. My 2007 Octavia has this) Heat soak reduction.

Engines no longer work on thermo-syphon principles
