Tyres? As in brands? Not sure yet ill shop around and see what's the best value fit the price..
No flares for now, see how they look on first. Would look good with flares but at $700 ish it's a bit "how ya going"

Good choice! Black is always better, less brake dust to clean. Reps?

Definitely a good choice in terms of look and ongoing maintenance.

RS6 was on my shortlist at the time, but wasn't available in black.

Would recommend the tyres most of us have with 19".

            Kumho KU31 245/45/19

P.S. Should have posted this into the Alternative Rims sticky and will most likely end up there once Transporter spots this!

VW badges for the centre caps. You wont need the flares unless you get more ET out there.
Very nice rims anyways.. cant wait to see a pic of them fitted.

Careful with the 255 wide tyres, they may poke 10mm more than what's legal, with that width/offset... (May... ??) Interested to see how you go!

                  Lookin' good!

Im curious, what brand of 255's are oversized?

I have the Kuhmos & they are flush, last night I seen a set of Continentals & they are flush.

The inside of the fuel cap door states 255/40 is the maximum.. what gives??

I think you'll find if you have 19x8.5 rims you may poke a little bit as there are a number of us with 19x8 which sit pretty flush.

So the 245 width tyre will pull in a little more at the top and the 255 will poke a bit more but issue is really what width rims you're running as the bead will sit the same place regardless of 245/255 tyre width.

The 255/40/19 tyres that are spec'd (on your fuel filler flap) are designed to fit on 19x9 rims which are the standard 19" rim for Tigs (not sold in Aus though). The problem with this size is that the tyre/rim does extend past the guard so that's when you definitely need to fit the wheel arch extensions.... http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...s-81747-4.html

I guess you'll find out when you fit your rims to the car whether you need the extensions or not....

It good to hear actual advice about the tyre size and not just speculations.. The tyre place in Richmond that do a lot of euros told me that 255/40 on 35offset are fine on 19" for tiguan but no bigger..
Ill make the call on Tyres once the time comes. Thanks Dr. Freedom.

                            My rims are 8.5 ET35
Bout the only thing not flush is the dunny out the back of my neighbours, it aint flushing

Be good to have some sort of listing of tyres so we can all add to it.

                              New wheels for my Tig

                              Small update:
Received wheels today and they look even better in the flesh
Started calling up for Tyres and decided to go with the 245/45/19 as 3 out of 4 places that I spoke to said it would be a better ride quality and closer to standard.
Got a great price from OzzyTyres from Sydney on the Pirreli Pzero Nero, so that's the final outcome.
Will post pics once all come together.
