  • 19x9 Savannah AU Tig specific question

    Hi All,

Just new to the community and Tiguan ownership and after many days on google trying to find an answer, I'm hoping to leverage some of your Australian specific Tig knowledge.

I've been looking @ some Savannah 19x9 ET33 to stick on the Tig (132 Pacific manual), getting rid of the OEM San Diegos ASAP (16x16.5, ET33). The premise seems simple enough as they are an option on O/S models.

Checking out the online calculators, I've noted that given the same offset (ET33) it will effectively be 1.5 inches further in and further out of the wheel arch. The overseas websites say that you need the wheel arch extenders and/or the shock spacers if you put these on (bearing in mind O/S model variants).

I've noticed forum members have then on, so it can be done, just hoping to ask specifically about wheel arch extenders and ET33x19"x9 or any other mods to make it work, not rub and not extend beyond the chassis and be illegal.

    Cheers
    Greg

Vw Australia never officiay sold them as an extra due to the extra poke from the wider wheel.
I have 8.5 wide ET35 and it's right on the limit.

Technically you would have to get arch extenders to remain legal with the Savannah's.

After 2.5 years ownership & seeing so many variations on aftermarket & OEM wheels, the savannah is still the one that does it for me...

Looks like the same seller sold a set late last year for $900 :19" Volkswagen Alloy Rims | eBay

                  Also he's been selling RNS510's for $900.

How's the credit card looking MGV???

Guess that's the luxury of working for VW.

I've got a set of savannahs, will be fitting them on tomorrow on 255/40R19 tyres.

My Tig is lowered on H&R springs, hopefully creates a bit of camber to tuck those wheels in.

will take some photos after the fitment.

those eBay ones were what set me off on looking the last two days, short of the arches ($500 + postage) or some other mod to keep it legal your already at $1600 before rubber...I do love the look of them though

Yes please post some pics before I get my h&r springs installed. Hope they fit without rubbing, especially the front.

I have had a set of Savannah's for about 9 mths now, running 255/40/19
At this stage I am not running the arch extenders at all.
Wheel and tyres sit perfectly flush with the guards, so technically they would be illegal as they aren't within the guards.
Haven't been questioned over them though as being a genuine VW wheel I think the local constabulary tend to leave you alone as they don't overly stand out.

I would though highly recommend getting the extensions (Other then the price) as the biggest problem I find is the amount of crap that gets thrown up the side of the car, I will eventual end up getting them myself.

As for the set on ebay, $1000 is a great price given that I got mine through ECS tuning in the states at $400 each plus shipping. Silver version not black.

Got my Savannahs fitted, 19x9 ET33 the wheel sits flush against the wheel arch.
as predicted the H&R helps tuck the wheels in a bit.

excuse the photos, it's overcast today
