Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tiguan TDI Bluefin'd

I was always contemplating having the TDi Tiguan chipped ever since I got it, but on paper it really did not gain as much as the 2.0 petrol counterpart. eg. our Golf went from 280Nm to 410Nm, and gained about 40 odd kw. So I sort of went back and forth on the decision as the TDi Tiguan will only gained about 20kw and 50Nm according to superchip.

Superchip was having a 20% off sale before the new year, I finally I took a plunge and got one from John @ tigersoft thinking that's quite a good deal to be had and worth a try. The process was easy enough with the handheld, within minutes of uploading my original file I got the modified version back and way it goes.

Not holding much expectation as I know its a generic tune (one size fits all) I started the engine, to my surprise the engine runs smoother at idle. so I said Okay~~ then proceed to drive out for a short test drive around the block.
mmm from idle to 1750rpm feels just a little livelier stock, but from 2200rpm onwards it pulls like a train! and I wasn't even on full throttle. Much like a GTi but of course runs out of puff at 4500rpm. It's a diesel anyway.

Again to my surprise the tune actually fixed the much dreaded booming sound the engine creates at 1250-1500rpm. It's not totally gone, but at least it is a lot less noticable!

It's only been a day, and I'm liking it so far! If the tune can move the power band closer or even before the 2000rpm it would be perfect.

I should've done the tune sooner!

Can anyone tell me why the Tiguan and Skoda Octavia vRS have different Superchipped figures (for both power and torque) when I assumed they were the same 2.0 TSI engine in both?
