Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Advise on 2nd hand price for 125tsi

I have been contemplating on getting a Tiguan for the wife.

Saw this heavily optioned 125tsi but it is priced rather high (i think)

I like the 125tsi cos it has the same engine (or perhaps even identical internal components but the tune) as my mk6 gti

How much would be a reasonable offer?

I just bought one used Tiguan and I think this Tiguan is reasonably priced for the year, kms and specs it has. That doesnt mean you cannot go lower with the price especially if she is moving overseas. But I think this car will be picked up soon and if your offer will be too low, it wont be yours.
One advice, when you view the car, carefully check every options, tell her to show everything and check if its working. Our Tiguan has been advertised with Comfort Pack, but it was a mistake.

This car would probably have been around $43-45k new with all those options (maybe even a bit more).

This is a nice looking car - blue with beige interior is one of my favourite colour combinations.

Unless it's priced at bargain basement to sell quickly, most people advertise higher than what they'd accept.

Yes and same engine as your GTI but just detuned. Actually the 147 and the 125TSI in the Tiguan are identical engines except for the tune.

A reasonable offer is what you feel is a reasonable price for the vehicle. At the end of the day it's an agreement between 2 parties. Really depends on how much you want it and how badly they want/need to sell the car.

My Tiguan is a year older, no DSG, black leather not beige, no BT, no Comfort Pack, no 18" alloys and it was 48K at the dealer in 2010 so I think this car with these specs were closer to 50K maybe above. I still have the receipt with all the 2010 prices for the options.

To be honest I would buy this car for 32K, but that's because I really want it (or wanted)

The 2011 cars were "run out" to make way for the new shape 2012 model. There's a fair list of accessories on the car so the first owner could easily have paid more - just depends when they purchased it and if they got VW "runout" of free on-roads (s/duty, d/del and 12 months rego). I think this was about $5-6k value from memory.

I certainly would have seriously looked (if not bought) this car if it was around at the time.

when i was shopping for my car mid last year. there was a 11000km 2011 silver dsg tiguan with sun roof/ leather/ sat nav for $35k talked the guy down to $32k but some one already beat me to the punch next day. was gutted. later that week a MY12 132tsi beige DSG tiguan with Tint and parking sensors showed up with 6700km for $34k, talked it down to $32.5k and bought it the same day, cant be happier. you never know whats going to pop up.

              thanks for the responses guys

apparently some one is looking at it today, so if it sells so be it (unless the car is a very special edition with limited production and actually does not depreciate if there is such thing).

there will always be another one popping up
