Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Are after market HUDs possible on the Tig?

Has anyone ever installed HUDs in their Tiguan?

Apparently plugs into OBD2. Can it be that simple? Will my whole car sneeze and die?

Yes it is a simple idea- a few other gauges do similar things. Probably won't make your car sneeze as long as it's only requesting diagnostic data.

Really? just plug it in and that's it? I used to have the Defi VSD (HUD) in my other car and that was definitely not a simple job.
I'm sure the information is out here somewhere, but, quick question, where is the OBD port on the MY13 Tig located?

Actually my problem is I want to do so many things, but also my head tells me to leave things as they are .. lol
Used to own the EK Civic which you can mod and mod and never end. Bad habit I suppose.

So, I actually ordered one of these while on holiday, and they were waiting for me when I got back.
Pretty much plug and play ... now if I can only tidy up the wiring (they are flat wires).

Anyone got any ideas how to remove the door sill rubbers or panels?
I'd do them in my old jap civic but so far been too scared to try something i haven't seen in the Tig.

Hell, I've got all the interior LED replacement bulbs but haven't even tried to pry anything out yet.
And the reversing LEDs, gotta figure out how to remove bumper enough to do these ..

Is there a mechanic's manual anywhere, that's got diagrams and stuff?

I'd love to meet up with anyone in the Melbourne area who's done these sort of things before and get some help there..
Or would I have to go to Volkspower or something?
        Cheers, Abuthen.
