Best Place to buy spare parts

Hi,

I am looking for a recomendation of where to buy spare parts for a 2009 Tiguan.

In particular I am looking for a replacement front grille. (I hit a bird unfortunately).

The dealer wanted over $500 for the replacement. Any recomendations of places on line
that can ship to Australia - US/UK?

Are there other options for replacement parts other than the dealer?

How bad is the damage, do you have all of the pieces as there places that can plastic weld it back together .

Ebay has some 2010 grilles would they fit yours?

Ian - thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately (for the grille and the poultry) I hit a duck that was pretty fat. It got pretty much dead centre of the grille and shattered the whole thing. It was great fun removing the animal after it got wedged in! Lucky it did no major damage to the A/C or radiator core.

So the upshot is that I don't have all the peices and it is pretty far gone.

Ian, thanks - unfortunately that is a 2010 model which is a fair bit different from the 2009 (actual build date of the car is 12/2008 ). Ideally I was hoping to get the (2008/2009) model if possible - but for $300++ it might be better to update.

Hi Nick I have a spare one from my 2008 Tiguan i upgraded mine to the chrome grille fitted to late 2009 tiguans and onwards as std.It therefore does not have the two centre chrome strips and does not include the VW centre emblem PM me for additional info and photo.

Ian I am not so sure that part on eBay will fit European and Australian market Tiguans I think the NA Tiguans have a different bumper and grille setup to conform to local safety regs. I bought a chrome one out of a late 2010 model and it does not look like anything like the one portrayed on the link above

Are you after the upper or lower grille? I hit a bird and put a hole in my lower grille. Dealer quoted $180 to replace the lower plastic insert. They said it's a very common part and go through about 3 a week!!!

I have had a look on eBay though didn't find any lower grilles for the gen 1 2008-2011 models. Only thing I found was for the updated 2011/12 model and I am not 100% sure these would fit. There were some on Alibaba but they want to sell quantities and I only want 1.

So at the moment I've wrapped it in mesh wire until I can find a suitable front end upgrade.
