  • Um, the new MY13 factory alloys are, um, different...

I don't think I like them but to each their own I guess…

These were an option in the States i believe, we never got them here in the Gen 1's.
The look similar to the prado wheels.

Saw a set on a new Tig in the shopping centre car park today. Looks like a step backwards if you ask me.

Are these standard items or an option these days?

I think they look simple, practical & rugged, entirely befitting the image of an off-road vehicle.

In contrast, the previous design looks a bit ornamental to me.

I don't actually see the problem with the new wheels.

Well OK so maybe I was being a little harsh. It doesn't look bad but perhaps just not my taste.

Though it does kind of remind me of a 10 year old Landcruiser.

                  Its fugly!!! lol

I ordered the 132 Tsi and noticed that these were the rims shown in the current brochure. Mine should be coming in Jan (prob late Jan)
I'll happily swop these with the previous version.
                  Cheers, Abuthen.

Glad I got the Pirelli P6's too - seems some of the new cars are coming with Hangkooks ?

Anyone know if the 155 wheels changed too ?

TBH, I can't say that they're that ugly, I saw much uglier wheels. They could be lighter than the previous wheels and therefor better for the performance and the fuel economy.
I would be interested to compare the weight of that 7 spoke wheel to the previous one.

In road use only conditions, the Hankook RA23 should be good for 40,000km, we have them on our MY10 and I don't see them lasting more. I also had them on my T5 and got 42,000km (rotated every 5,000km).

I'm sure the new wheels will
look fine above 100kph. Just squint a lot when you look at them standing still. Probably cheaper to make than the old ones knowing VW.

My pirelli p6s are at 39000k now with probably 2-3 k left in them. Bob Jane said that size 215/65-16 no longer available in p6, so suggest i go to pirelli scorpion str instead.

Would have gone fir a Yokohama c-drive but again nothing in that size. Yokos were much better in wet than pirellis on my previous forester turbo. Yoko Geolanders were something to avoid though. Noisy and not great grip.
