  • Viezu Tiguan Project Build

Well as some of you may have already guessed I've put my car up as a guinnea Tig for Viezu/HPX test hardware.

I've created this new thread as a bit of a build thread so will post my updates and experiences here.

First bits of hardware on are a 2.75"/2.5" downpipe and stage 2 tune.

Will post some photos and first impressions in the next couple of days.

    2013 Tiguan 155TSI, stage 1, 144kwaw (sold) - Tigger73's 155TSI Build
    2011 Tiguan 125TSI, Stage 2+, 152kwaw (sold)

OK so the downpipe is 2.75" at the front going down to 2.5" and the back and gets rid of the massive restriction right after the turbo.

And for comparison here's the stock DP:

Also some additional "bling" under the bonnet - a carbon engine cover.

Need to do a bit of cleaning in there.

That standard downpipe is dire, VW should be ashamed of themselves

Not really a fan of the cover. Kinda clashes with everything else.

I definitely look forward to the project though. It's gonna be a good one!

Even though it may look a little out of place at the moment, there's another reasonable sized chunk of carbon going in there shortly (CAI).
And I understand that for those looking to complete the set there may even be a battery cover coming out soon.

That seems more the go than just an engine cover. One just kinda looks out of place, glad there's more Carbon to come.

Yes it does need some TLC. Though I do a reasonable amount of driving on dirt roads so it's going to go back to looking like this pretty shortly anyway.

And agree that the stock DP is a bit of an enginering monstrosity - though it's probably built that way to be tight on emissions and for cost considerations. Though unfortunately performance goes out the window.

With the new DP on it runs so much freer at higher revs. Loving it.

Sound is only marginally different. A little lower/throatier due to the larger diameter DP, but not really any noisier.

The rear muffler/exhaust is still stock (at the moment). So tailpipe noise is identical.

The DP/tune does change the turbo spool/boost so I have noticed some difference as the turbo spools up.

Once I get the full exhaust on I'll definitely post some sound clips.

That's what I want to hear. I'm not planning to change the exhaust to keep the noise down. I found the OEM exhaust is quite boomy from rear passenger perspective. When is this going to be released?

Actually there was a pre-production twin exit on my car but got taken back off as they needed to use it to build the production unit.

Sorry I can't tell you what it sounds like as I wasn't there during the test fits

Release for the twin exit is soon (hopefully by the end of the year). Though there is also a new rear diffuser on the cards so it may get released when both are ready and likely the rear diffuser will be the thing that holds it up.

Twin exit means left and right side?? Now that may change my mind...

The quality on that exhaust looks superb.

Nope twin exit is what you're looking at which is 2 separate tail pipes on the rear left side.

What you're talking about is a quad exit - 2 set of twins so 2 exits on both left and right sides.

This is a little tricker as it means that you need a new rear diffuser. There's a cut-out on the left side for the tail pipes, but nothing on the right.... which means you either need to cut the plastic (which would look crappy) or create a new moulding with both left and right exit.

I believe this may be happening but still waiting to hear if this is going to become a reality (fingers crossed).
