Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Roof Pod recommendations

Hi all, I'm looking to get a roof pod that will fit my Tiguan and have enough room to allow for a surfboard to be strapped on as well.

Please feel free to post your recommendations.

Do you have the roof racks on yet? When i put the Rhino Racks on a couple of years ago, my 1st thought was that they needed to be just a bit wider, maybe 50mm each way. That was just from a visual perspective at 1st, but slightly wider would be just a bit more functional as well...
I carry an Oztent in one of those big baskets on the roof along with a stand-up paddleboard & a surfboard, it all goes on ok, though the boards have to go on leaning on the edge of the basket on one side, on a bit of an angle.
Current: MY18 TRANSPORTER CrewVan, Indium Grey
Previous: MY10 Tiguan 2.0TSI, Silver Leaf, APR StgII tune + many mod's

I have a set of Rhino Whisper racks that I currently carry surfboards on. I bought them as they extend past the roof rail line to allow for a wider load to be carried.

Hi there, the racks I have measure 1150mm within the end caps.

Surfboard in a cover is approximately 500mm wide.

Therefore a pod that is approximately 500-550mm wide would be ideal.

        Suggestions?
