BTW, the indicator and wiper stalks are on the "wrong way round" on your Tiguan, as well as on your Golf. You should get the dealer to fix that up as well.
I think that's just being facetious.

I was honestly quite surprised I couldn't find the latch where it's been for my last let's see (Vauxhall Cavalier 93, Corolla 99, Ford Focus 01, Celica 02, Evo 03, GTI 07, GTR 08, Golf 11) and to make things worse, the manual actually states it's on the drivers side.

I actually liked it as I could get access to the engine bay without having to open the car (quite a problem when you have a fully flat battery)

probably .. although in the end, because I can afford it, I'd do it.

            Hows your tiggy going?

There's nothing wrong with being annoyed by something, but your proposed action (i.e. return the car) is disproportionate to the nature of the complaint.

I still think you should return the car to the dealer - just to see what happens.

You should have gone up market and bought a 9N3 Polo - there's a grommet on the passenger side where the bonnet release is for the LHD models (used by lots of people here to run amp power cabling).

In case you didn't read the NEXT POST, I googled and realised it was normal.

My concern was based on the manual which showed the bonnet release on the driver side. That's just shoddy. And caused confusion. Which is why I initially thought it might have been an aberration and my query if I needed to return the car was genuine. If they could fit the latch wrongly, it was ALSO likely there were other mistakes being made.

Except for the Golf manual, the latch is STILL on the driver side and not swapped as you are inferring.

Absolutely amazing that people actually ask this question! It's a European car that is designed primarily as a left hooker. The cost associated with designing and building in everything different on a RHD is just too expensive to be worth it. At the end of the day it's a bloody bonnet release that you use once a week at best, not like it's the gear lever!

They do swap the release for RHD Golfs.

                              Amen!

I think I've opened my bonnet twice in the 4 months I've had my 118tsi, and that's just to make sure the engine is still there....it's that quiet!

                                Different car, different design philosophy.

It makes no difference to people like me (technician) who open different bonnets all day. I know it's on the left, so is the Crafter.

Not sure this has been asked yet, but how did you cope with the blinker stalk on the left, and the fuel flap on the right?
