Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Dealers are reluctant to 'fix' rattles and squeaks for free, unless they can replace an actual part.

You can't claim a repair under warranty, only replacement parts and the labour involved to do so.

It's common now for dealers to charge you to rectify a rattle, if there's parts replacement. Some car manufacturers don't even honor any sort of rattle warranty after a short period of time from purchase.

The VWs that are actually made in Germany seem to have less issues in the squeak/rattle/buzz area than those assembled elsewhere.

the noise you hear from the RNS510 isnt the CPU, its the hard drive.

So far I have been charged anything for that repair. That seems to be a good thing.

Totally dissapointed with Tiguan quality as proven to be a rattle machine. It is very difficult to believe this is a VW middle range car until you experience it yourself. To be very honest to all the members in here, this problem has been the first one i encountered in my 15 years driving history with 7 different other car brands.

You don't think all your suspension/tyres mods may affect rattles etc?

imo it is .. every car Ive ever done springs on did it

youve got to remember that some people who get mods done, actually think when the tuner tells that the "car now runs more efficiently" that it equates to their car now consuming less fuel

I'm running with 19" rims & lowering springs & have no rattles... (since having the door latches greased & the wastegate clip on) Now i'm really concerned my car has no 'character'! Might have to put a few marbles in the door pockets!

Mine's 4.5 years old and NO RATTLES, only a reoccurring "creak" from the B pillar that just needs some silicon spray to silence it for another 12 months !!

Ditto NZTiguan also going on 4 yrs plus and still no rattles or squeaks. Main reason why I am looking at replacing it with another Tiguan TDI manual as it has performed well and beyond my expectations and I am comparing it to my 2007 320d
