Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Parking/Warning Sensor volume

    Hi all

I've had my Tig for about a month now, and it is going great A couple of little nuisance things, like probably once a week my iPod "freezes" and the MDI will not recognise the media-in (ipod) so I have to disconnect the iPod and to a soft reboot of the ipod. Not a deal breaker but a bit of a minor pain.

Car drives fantastically well and economy is hovering around 10l/100km. I like the car !

I am however concerned at the volume of the parking/warning sensors at the rear of the car. The front ones are perfect and are very easily heard - not so for the rear, which in my opinion is more important.

I have even taken it to the VW service centre nearby where they agreed the volume was almost nil. They increased the volume fractionally but is still very low.

Is the volume supposed to be the same for front and rear sensors? (I think so) and....Should I take it back again or am I being pedantic and wasting my time?

Thanks for your words of wisdom.

No ... they can be set at different volume levels independently.

If you can get access to a VCDS cable, you can also adjust the pitch/frequency as well.

I find this useful so that I know exactly whether it's the front or the back going off (given they sound different).

Look in this thread of mine on how to do this and other tweaks:

Are you sue that the iPhone (???) itself isn't switching to Bluetooth mode of connecting?

Don't have sensors in mine but maybe the front to back fader of audio system needs adjusting?
Tiguan MY12 118TSI, white, no frills..... Had ANS810 ... Note the HAD ..... Now got RCD510 supplemented by 7" Android TomTom mounted on a HoldMyPhone .... Upgraded speakers Vibe BlackAir front splits and MBQuartz 12" ported sub driven from Infinity Reference 5350a amp .... oh and added fun

Thanks Whiskywallah - it is an iPod Classic (160g) not an iPhone.......... and I tried the audio system fader thing with no luck. I may have to either take it back again, or as Aussietig said try to get a cable - although I am a techno cripple

Yeah - just looked at Aussietig's link to the VCDS options and I am out of my league there.........looks like another punish at the VW dealership.

It's not impossible for it to be a firmware issue on the iPod itself. Are you running latest updates via iTunes?
Or if you read carefully in manual you might find that VW don't support your iPod .

Don't go back to VW for VCDS things. Find a local specialist. Where are you?

Unless your dealer does it for free, I would consider another option.

If you are still in Engadine, it's on the outskirts of Sydney. They'd surely be the odd VWWC forum member with a VCDS somewhere within 50km that would be happy to make a few adjustments for an ale or two. That would be a better option than perhaps being charged $50 for a dealer to make a simple 2min adjustment. Plus if there was 1 or 2 other items that annoy you (i.e. speedo inaccuracies, seatbelt warning alarming in car parks for instance) these could be done at the same time.

Thanks Whiskywallah- yeah latest version of iTunes. Like I said, it's more a nuisance than anything else, not a major deal just annoying. And I am in Sydney's south.

Jase, yep still in sunny old Engadine and I'd be happy to hear from someone relatively close by to assist rather Han have to leave the car at VW for a whole day again without the guarantee of a result. Anyone keen, let me know and beer = dollars if you so wish.

              Cheers!
