Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

There seems to be still parts restrictions for the 103TDI but dealerships were able to place a very small order for October delivery to Australia.
Anyone keen on a TDI, start planning now!

Is this why I see very few TDIs around in the new model? So what is the reason for this? I have heard there was Diesel Bosch Pump troubles and Injector issues but this TDI engine model is 4 years old so how could there be hiccups now, when I bought my Tiguan all you could get was TDI, TSIs were just coming through the production line. My guess from what I have read about the new Golf VII is that the newer TDI engines will eventually replace the 103TDI. Oh well my Diesel has just started to purrrr nicely especially after a Diesel fuel purge cleanout last service at 45,000km.

On the diesels, has anyone ever done the ECU upgrade? If it made enough of a difference, would make the TDI's pretty appealing in my view (sorry). Already have great fuel economy, just needs a bit more grunt

I see on Naresh's sig a 140TDI. Have been meaning to ask him about that ! Like is that a different spec for UK market, or the result of tuning?
