My Golf's were recently replaced at 60,000km yet the Forester that I had before the present one lasted till 225,000km and that included about 40,000km towing. Both cars covered the same sort of driving with both my wife and I about equal sharing. I liked the feel of the Golf's sharper brakes more.

My Civic is almost onto the 3rd set of rears, first set lasted 60000klms, and the front still has 50% left at least on the original pads. The car has 116,000klms on it, manual and i am also not hard on the brakes

You're a bit far from me, but any independent VW specialist in QLD should be able to help you when you say you'd like ATE Ceramic brake pads. Try Jmac in the forum View Profile: Jmac - VWWatercooled Australia

Guys...any idea a set of golf R mk6 bbk will do any good as an upgrade to our current brakes?
              Golf R : 345mm x 30 front , 310mm x 23 rear
              Tiguan Stock brakes : 312mm front , 286mm rear
I were quoted aud2000 for a set of Golf R front & rear BBK incl of s/steel braided hose, rotors n calipers with pads...
A set of Forge of Brembo would cost me Aud2500 just for the front pair...any thoughts?
FYI...i dont put my car on track..just spirited driving occasionally..

Gary, i reckon the brakes on our Tig's are pretty damned good stock & more than suitable for most highly spirited driving situations... If i HAD to spend a few thou on mod's, would go for an exhaust system & a set of narrow flares for the wheel arches!

Happy modding! ps, maybe get your calipers painted!

Thanx MGV for d feedback...after hearing what u said,i reckon if i were to spend some cash on mods at d moment,i probably will upgrade all my brake hoses to good ones and on better brake fluids as suggested by our mate in this forum. and of coz better brake pads too...cheers!!

I have also been thinking of the R brakes! More of the cool factor than anything else I must admit! Yes I agree the brakes on the Tiguan isn't too bad at all! But I am sooooooo over the bloody brake dust. It just take a few days after washing for the dust to appear again!

I have been looking at brake pads too. Might actually take up Greg's (from GSLRally) on some good pads. but I'm banging myself for missing the 50% off the pads. Rrrrrr.....

After further research n ask around with guys on R brakes....all good reviews n thumbs up on the R's bbk...never fail in any conditions...no squeeking noise or need any run in,well balance front n back setups without any nose-dive scenario....pads are easy to source n price reasonable too...will b my next upgrade in my mod list...cheers!!

Fair enough Gary. just another choice I guess? u could prbly ask if u can order w/o installation costs and just parts only. Perhaps cheaper for u that way since Msia's installation prbly cheaper than Sg.
