  • looking for a spare - anyone with orig 16's with/w/o tyres to sell?

Appreciate this probably needs to go to 'wanted', but good place to start here with other tiguan owners.

I am looking for a full sized spare. So an orig 16 inch wheel and tyre. Can be with/without tyre. Will be a spare so as long as mag and tyre are sound, doesn't have to be in fantastic condition.

I need just one, but do know some others who may also be interested, so at the right price would consider buying a set of 4.

I am in northern nsw, will be going to Vic in April if there are any Victorians or southern new south welshman with a spare. Know a tig owner in SA interested in a spare too, so SA would work too.

please PM me if you have anything.

I'm in SA - put an add in the classifieds last month!

I bought a set of 4 second hand 16" Tig wheels and needed one as a fullsize spare. So have 3 left over I'm happy to sell individually. Photos in the classifieds.
Tyres only have a couple of mm tread left. Wheels in as new condition. Had one person who may be interested in two but waiting to hear back.

Freight at your expense is not a problem.
    pm if interested

    Cheers

So I take it that the full size wheel fit into the spare wheel cabinet? Sorry, haven't lifted the boot lid to see what's underneath yet

No it won't that's why the Tig comes with a space saver.

Yep, you can fit it in easily. The rear floor just sits 70mm higher with the full size spare. Need to make up a piece of M8 threaded rod that is 30mm longer than the standard bolt that is used to secure the wheel. I used a length of rod and an M8 nut and wingnut and tightened them together at the right length. The front part of the rear floor will be unsecured - its up to you whether you want to find a solution for this.

I keep the spacesaver in around town and just use the fullsize spare for jaunts in the country.

spare arrived today - in good nick - thanks Phil and like the mod for fitment

for me I will probably just stand it on its side in the bootwell for longer trips as plenty of gear will be packed in with it. We took out the false floor altogether and just rely on a can of goop for local trips, free's up heaps of space (about an extra 160 litres from memory)

alternatively we'll mount on a bike rack (if taking) or in a towball mounted cage, which I have from the UK for carrying extra gear (neat because it tucks in behind the car so no effect on fuel economy like our roof box.

we are doing a trip down to Vic and back in 3 weeks time, 3500+ kays, so full size spare essential for that one

I picked up one of Phil's other spares last weekend and am looking to find the best way to reconfigure my bootspace to fit the full-size spare. Still to fully investigate my options here but there seems to be quite a bit of space on either side of the boot inbetween the boot liner and the rear quarter panel. Has anyone looked at enlarging their boot to use this space? Other option is to make a new floor for the boot as I've got the existing floor on top of the full size spare and it does make the smallish boot smaller. If anyone has some photos would be interested to see.
