Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • How long does Pre-Delivery normally take?

Got word from the dealer that the ordered Tiguan (is a 132TSI 12' model) is in the the pre-delivery centre. This was last week and the delivery date given is next Tuesday.

Is this unusually long? I tracked the VIN Number to the WW site, car had been discharged from the ship on the 1/2. Customs clearance would have taken not more than 11 days (I'm a customs broker) & there appears quite a gap to when it's actually taken out of Patricks.

Has many here had delays from what the dealer told them?

Mine took 3 weeks from when it landed to being picked up.
They have to test all the parts that were optioned on the car as well as performing all of the pre-pickup details such as cleaning, wheel alignment etc.

Usually 2-3 weeks. Any longer and it's probably dealer's fault (a backlog of some sort) and nobody else.

Usually, if all the paperwork is signed, and the money has exchanged hands, the car is only at the dealership for a few days. This covers the cleaning, the PD inspection, and an accessories. The time can vary depending on the dealership's workload, and the amount of accessories fitted.
