Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just gave the Tig its first wash, like I always do I like to lift the windscreen wipers off the screen to clean it. Found I couldn't lift them, the bonnet is in the way! Good job I was gentle otherwise could have lost some paint. Am I missing something?

If they are like the mk6 golf, the only way to lift them is to push the wiper stalk down before turning the ignition of. This makes them stop halfway through a sweep so you can lift them from the screen.

That's spot on advice. Exactly what I do for my Tig.

To 'fine tune' the above advice, :
Turn the ignition OFF, then toggle the wiper stalk down. Wiper will do half a sweep, to the 'service position'!
        Good stuff!

No doubt it is, but as I have not had a need for that bit of info, I havent seen it before. Whilst the Service Book is very detailed, it is also a rather convoluted and dry read and I certainly havent read it from cover to cover.

              Cheers

Would recommend a look through the service book, has this and some other important (quirky) info in there... Very useful in times of need like a break down, tyre change etc...

Thankyou, couldnt agree more. Reading the manual from cover to cover ...................... nup, aint going to happen, but, I will read it to track down specific points or issues that I would like to resolve.

                      Cheers
