  • Reversing Camera on MY2012 Tiguan

After many months of waiting for delivery, I picked up my 2012 Tiguan today.

Unfortunately, the MY2012 155TSI Tiguan didn't have the reversing camera option, and when I found out about this last year I managed to buy a genuine VW reversing camera kit for the Tiguan on ebay for half the price of the 2011 factory option.

The dealer was able to fit it as part of pre-delvery (at the same cost as the factory option, so I ended up paying 1.5 times the cost for the camera).

The yellow reversing lines come up on the screen, however, they don't move when the steering wheel like they did on the 2011 demo model I test drove.

Anyone know how to get it to move when the steering is turned? Did the dealer forget to enable this function when they programmed the car? Is there an option I need to enable?

Wow what a rip. I don't know but I would be taking it back to the dealer to rectify post haste.

I suspect it's not actually a genuine VW part and that you'll find the yellow lines are "fixed" as a consequence but I could be wrong (hope so for you !!). Will be interesting to see if they can get it to work for you.

      Good luck

            Hi guys and gals,

I was told by the dealer yesterday that we can now order factory-fitted RVC. The sales person I spoke to also told me that the factory RVC for Tiguan will be the one that pops out from the rear badge (like golf, etc); can someone please confirm this? I tried to search for such information without having any luck.

            Thanks,

            Taz

Well the OLD model had one that is integrated with the hatch release. I've certainly not heard of any that pop out of the badge at all. Suspect it's yet another sales rep breaking wind !!!

              Cheers

That's what I thought as well!
I will place my order for the factory RVC and see what the car comes with. Regardless of where it is, I think I am more comfortable having factory fitted as suppose to dealer's ones. I'll keep you guys updated of the outcome.

you have to install RVC MODEL "5C" in your car.
you RVC camera directly connect to RCD/RNS 510.
you should make the camera connect to 5C then to RCD/RNS 510.
                  that's why..

Hi all, i was reading this thread with interest since I also have a 155 Tig on order with a factory fitted RVC. Having read the notes here I called up my dealer yesterday (Chatswood Classic Cars) and asked them the question and if they can clarify where the camera is fitted. I was told that the Tigs don't have the model thats fitted to the boot release lever similar to the Golf, Passat etc.

I have not been able to find any other information, pics or video showing the pop out fitting on a tiguan. Would have been nice to have though.

I don't think you'll find pics or a video of a pop-out camera on a Tiguan because there ISN'T ONE. As I said before, every Tiguan I've heard of to date, all over the World, including 2012 models that has the reversing camera, has it in the boot release. IF that's changed it's VERY recent and I've certainly seen nothing to suggest that's the case. Unfortunately sales people are probably the worst people possible to answer these questions !!

NZTiguan, thanks for the response. And fully agree, sales people maybe the worst to answer such questions.

                        Thanks again.

                          Hi all,

I took delivery of my Tiguan last week and can confirm that the factory-fitted RVC in MY12 Tiguans is attached to the boot release, not the rear badge as previously stated by the salesperson I've been dealing with. It does however, comes with movable projection lines, which provide guidance when is comes to reverse parking.

                          Cheers,

Ditto. The Golf's VW logo is also a boot release latch. The Tiguan's is not.
